Dannevang No. 7, Livermore lost recently long time member Charles Smith. Our condolence's go out to Virginia. Her and Charles had just got back from a long trip to a class reunion and were up in Jackson when Charles suffered an aneurysm in his back.

CHARLES WILLIAM SMITH
Resident of Livermore Longtime Livermore resident Charles William Smith, 78 died unexpectedly August 20th, 2008 at Sutter General Hospital, Sacramento.
He was born on July 19th, 1930 in Dearborn Michigan to Paul and Debora Bennett Smith. He grew up in Tennessee and moved to California in 1947. He served in the U.S. army from 1952 to 1954, stationed in Germany with the signal corps of the 142nd Division of the 6th Army.
Charles and his family moved to Livermore in 1968. In January 1986 he retired from PG&E after 38 years of service. After retiring he and his wife traveled to many countries but especially loved RV-ing throughout the United States.
Charles was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Livermore Aerie #609, Dannevang #7 Danish Lodge, Family Motor Coach Association Thousand Trails West, Reddy Rovers RV Club and the Danish Campers RV Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Virginia, sons Mark (Connie) of Ripon, Scott (Lydia) of Concord, Kent of Livermore and daughter Paula (Danny) Flores of Livermore; Grandchildren Joshua Smith and Madeline, Olivia and Roan Flores. Charles will be dearly missed by his family and many long time friends.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 28th, 2008 11:00 AM at Callaghan mortuary, 3833 East Ave Livermore. A reception will follow at the Eagles Hall in Livermore.
A private burial service will be held Friday, August 29th at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
